=============================

Windows Services allow application to start at boot time, run under a
security context independent of the interactive user and can be
controlled remotely.

PerlSvc from the ActiveState Perl Dev Kit provides you with the
capability of writing Windows Services in Perl, creating easily
deployable, freestanding executables that will work on any Windows
NT, 2000 or XP computer.

Jan Dubois, PDK tech lead, will provide an overview of Windows
 and walk you through a sample service written in Perl. This
service will "watch" a directory tree on the server (e.g. a web site)
and backup any changed files immediately to a different computer on
the network.

The demonstration includes running the service under a different user
account, passing parameters to the service, and debugging the service.
